Ian McLagan, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Great Friend of Yep Roc, Passes Away

.........................................................

It is with great sadness and eternal admiration that we report the passing of rock and roll icon Ian McLagan.  Ian was a member of the “Small Faces” and “Faces” and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

He died today, December 3, 2014, surrounded by family and friends in his adopted hometown of Austin, TX, due to complications from a stroke suffered the previous day.  He was 69 years old. Read David Fricke’s beautiful remembrance of Mac now in Rolling Stone.

His manager Ken Kushnick says,  “He was a beloved friend to so many people and a true rock n roll spirit. His persona and gift of song impacted the music across oceans and generations.”

Ian’s bandmate in Small Faces and Faces, Kenney Jones said, “I am completely devastated by this shocking news and I know this goes for Ronnie and Rod also.”

Ian’s artistry, generosity and warmth of spirit touched countless other musicians and music fans around the world.  His loss will be felt by so many.

Ian was scheduled to begin a North American tour, opening for labelmate Nick Lowe. A special T-shirt was made that features all of the artists scheduled to perform at all of the tour dates – Nick Lowe, Los Straitjackets and Ian McLagan. With Mac’s passing, it was decided immediately that all profits from the sale of the Nick Lowe Quality Holiday Revue Tour T-shirt would be donated to The Artist Wellness Program (AWP), a charity that Ian McLagan supported.

Demand for the t-shirt has been so high, that it sold out during the first half of the tour and proceeds from those shirts will be given to AWP.  In honor of Mac, and the charity he supported, Yep Roc has agreed to sell the shirt and donate all profits from the sale of it to The Artist Wellness Program. In order to maximize profits from the sale of this shirt, Yep Roc will be printing only the quantity ordered during the time of this sale.  This is the best way to guarantee the largest donation possible from the sale of these shirts.  As a result, t-shirts will be printed after the order deadline of January 5, 2015.  T-shirts will be shipped to customers during the first week of February 2015.

This limited edition T-shirt will only be available for sale via the Yep Roc Records until Jan. 5, 2015. Orders will ship February 2015.

The namesake Stephen Bruton Artist Wellness Program will provide musicians and artists with a screening/early detection program for life threatening disease including cancer, heart disease and diabetes, and will be offered at no charge to the artists. The comprehensive test results afford individuals an amazingly detailed insight into their current state of health and the adjustments needed to avoid potentially serious health risks in the future. Knowing exactly what nutritional and lifestyle changes each person must make to avoid future threats of disease and serious illness can and will be life-saving to many, now and into the future.
