Jukebox the Ghost Thrilled to Have ‘Genuine’ Fans — Top 100 Acts at SXSW 2011

On paper, Jukebox the Ghost may sound like a typical piano-pop group — they’ve even toured with Ben Folds — but with their virtuosic blend of off-kilter melodies, dance-rock synth lines and nasal-free, soaring harmonies, they share more in common with the operatic likes of Queen.
The Philadelphia trio has largely lived on the road since 2006 and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. Spinner talked to pianist and singer Ben Thornewill about marathon rehearsal sessions, building an audience one fan at a time and how ditching the idea of becoming “the next big thing” was the smartest decision the band ever made.
