Aoife O’Donovan Releases New Album ‘Age of Apathy’

.........................................................

Today, Aoife O’Donovan shares Age of Apathy, an acclaimed new album produced by GRAMMY-winner Joe Henry (Bonnie Raitt, Rhiannon Giddens). Age of Apathy finds the GRAMMY- and Americana Award-winning singer and songwriter composing astute examinations of life, love and existence that, according to The New York Times, are filled with “musical surprises: daring melodic leaps, unexpected chord progressions, [and] subtle rhythmic shifts.” It’s the culmination of Aoife’s lifelong dedication to her craft, and an artful articulation of the philosophy behind her work.

Music is everything to me — it’s literally the most important thing. When I think about where do I want my life to go, where do I want to be when I’m older, what’s going to happen after we die — the music is the thing that will get us through to the end. And music is what will be there after we’re gone.

Recorded through a unique residency with Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, O’Donovan wrote and recorded Age Of Apathy on-site at their studio with GRAMMY-nominated engineer Darren Schneider while collaborating entirely remotely with Henry. Remote collaborations including introduced unexpected rhythms and textures into the architecture of the songs, allowing O’Donovan to bend her sound into more expansive shapes. The result: an enveloping sound-world that singularly showcases Aoife’s masterful songwriting and emergent literary prowess. Collaborators on the album include Madison Cunningham on “Passengers” and Allison Russell and Tim O’Brien on “Prodigal Daughter.”
